About Cratekin

Cratekin is a small, free collecting game that runs in your browser. You open crates from The Rejectory and give the misfits inside a place on your Shelf.

What Cratekin is

The Rejectory is where the world sends things that didn't pass inspection. Somewhere along the line, the rejects started waking up. Each one was stamped REJECTED for some small, absurd reason, packed into a crate and sent down the intake belt. Those creatures are the Cratekin.

There are 10 Cratekin so far, from common fluff and cogs to one very rare creature of sealing wax. Every one of them is an original character made for Cratekin.

What you do

• Work shifts. Help run The Rejectory on the Sorting Line, sending rejected cargo down the right chute, or at the Repair Bench, fixing whatever arrives broken. Every shift pays Scrap.
• Open crates. Spend Scrap to open a crate and see who is inside. The server decides the result; your browser only plays the animation.
• Collect. Everything you find goes on your Shelf, which shows what you have discovered and what is still a silhouette.
• Chase the rare ones. Cratekin come in 5 rarities. Some turn up all the time; some you may open dozens of crates without seeing.

The collectible idea

A Cratekin is more than a picture. Each one has a name, a species, a rarity, the collections it belongs to, a short description and an inspection note explaining why it was rejected. You can own several copies of the same Cratekin, and your Shelf counts them all. The public catalog lists every Cratekin found so far.

How we try to build it

• Honest odds. Drop chances are published on the crate itself and on the rarities page, and every opening is decided on the server using those exact odds.
• No real money. Scrap and Cratekin are virtual. They can't be bought, sold, traded or cashed out, and they have no monetary value.
• Little personal data. You can play without an account. An account needs only an email address and a password. See the privacy policy.
• Original creatures. Cratekin aren't based on characters from other games or franchises.

Early access

Cratekin is in early access and still evolving. More Cratekin are coming, The Rejectory is still being explored, and features, balance and odds may change along the way. There are no release dates: things arrive when they're ready.
